Hamilton Rodrigues: Candidate for Planning Board, Canton, Massachusetts 

Hamilton Rodrigues is a proven community leader, real estate professional, and local business owner. He was born in the United States and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Hamilton lives in Canton with his wonderful family. Hamilton values and champions individual freedoms, limited government, the rule of law, human dignity, property rights, public safety, infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and support for local businesses. 

As a proud graduate of Madison Park Technical Vocational High School, Hamilton was an exceptional student-athlete, excelling in basketball, football, and track. He served as a Student Government Senator and Public Relations Officer for the Cape Verdean Student Alliance. In 1998, Hamilton received the City of Boston Scholarship and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, followed by a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston. 

Hamilton has over 20 years of experience in real estate as a broker, investor, and property rehabber. As a Licensed Real Estate Instructor, he has been an asset and mentor to many aspiring real estate professionals. His career also includes commitment and excellence in the education of our community’s youth. Hamilton was a dedicated math teacher at Jeremiah Burke High School. He also served as an appointed member of Canton’s Economic Development Board from 2017-2022, where he worked on initiatives to promote business growth and economic vitality in the community. 

With over fifteen years of experience in urban planning and development, Hamilton understands how responsible planning can help communities thrive. He has worked with both local governments and private developers to create sustainable, responsible projects. As a project manager at a leading development firm, he has overseen initiatives that successfully balance economic growth with the preservation of community character. He is committed to ensuring Canton grows in a manner that balances development with quality of life, fostering both business success and community wellness. 

Hamilton is a staunch advocate for fiscal responsibility and believes that effective, transparent planning is essential for maintaining the quality of life in Canton. As a member of the Planning Board, his mission is to ensure that development is smart, responsible, and beneficial to the entire community. He believes in fostering open communication between the Planning Board and residents, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard in the decision-making process. 

Throughout his career, Hamilton has worked tirelessly to find common-sense solutions to complex planning issues. He approaches challenges with an open mind and a commitment to creating solutions that work for all residents. His goal is to help Canton grow in a manner that honors its history while embracing opportunities for the future.
